I'm not going to be duped by performances in the spring game again, either. We went into the season feeling pretty good about our QB situation, and the offense was just as bad as it has been for the last 4-6 years.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
For the life of me I can't figure out why they keep talking about Toney as a realistic option when Nussmeier is the OC. He has literally never been successful with a dual threat QB. It also makes me nervous as Hell even seeing Del Rio's name in the conversation because the way they've handled him has always defied common sense. The kid can't throw, can't move, is a jackass on social media encouraging all college players to leave early if there's a remote possibility they'll get drafted and skip bowl game, is prone to injuries both real and imaginary, and couldn't stop turning the ball over once we started playing real football teams. After seeing that for a couple years this staff still wants to paint him as a leader/mentor, and I don't trust that he's not going to wind up jogging very slowly and un-athletically onto the field in Dallas.
“I think there are some key components for our football team that aren't playing for us right now. And we're very thin in some areas. And it is what it is. I'm not making excuses, that's just the facts, and it's real. I think we've got a good staff and I think that we've got a really good football team. They're fighting their butt off this Saturday, first of all, and heading into spring. And I'm excited about that. I'm excited about this Saturday and our guys getting out and competing again."

If Del Rio is the starter, it means one of two things: Either our young quarterbacks have not developed, or the coaching staff has gone full Muschamp and decided that he is the starter from now on unless he has a season-ending injury. Somehow I doubt that either will happen, especially with McElwain talking about our new QBs giving us the ability to push the ball down the field.
