Nole fans are a lot less likely to accept Jimbo as a scapegoat than we were to accept Urban Meyer truth be damned. Having grown up in Tallahassee I know exactly why for plenty of them.
Going just by rankings for the last 4 full classes since that's ostensibly what they inherited and we don't have the track record of how many guys will play in the NFL (but can almost guarantee that Willie didn't inherit nearly as many guys who will play on Sundays as Coach Boo), it's about as close as possible:
UF (working back from 10-07): 1, 11 (small class and #2 in average recruit ranking), 3, 1 FSU (17-14): 5, 2, 3, 4
I'd still take ours but both inherited a shitload of talent on paper. FSU also suffered from a serious deficit in the Strength and Conditioning program under Jimbo especially on the Line. For the record, I don't think Taggert is much of a coach and he may be worse than Muschamp overall although I wouldn't be surprised if they're pretty comparable once all is said and done. Both seem to be able to recruit for no real reason. I really hope that FSU holds onto him for 4+ years but it's going to take Jeremy Foley style incompetence because the consensus amongst the fanbase sounds a lot more Zook than Muschamp.
“I think there are some key components for our football team that aren't playing for us right now. And we're very thin in some areas. And it is what it is. I'm not making excuses, that's just the facts, and it's real. I think we've got a good staff and I think that we've got a really good football team. They're fighting their butt off this Saturday, first of all, and heading into spring. And I'm excited about that. I'm excited about this Saturday and our guys getting out and competing again."
