Just need to limit the turnovers and we can score enough to win this game. We've had 3 games where we have turned the ball over 4 times and in all three of those we didn't score more than 26 points. Tennessee we turned it over 3 times and score 34. The other two we didn't have a turnover and scored 38 and 45 points.
To steal a line from Bobby Knight about Dale Brown another LSU head coach renowned not for his coaching ability but for his cheating, I mean recruiting, prowess "As long as Ed Orgeron is on the other sideline we have a chance to win this game."
After a couple turnovers, limited effectiveness, an injury or possible a combination thereof, Jones comes in for Trask in the 2nd half and leads a comeback to win 33-27. I watched UGA come into Death Valley riding high at #2 in the country with a drop back QB who will go in the first round this year and get absolutely bitch slapped. They didn't have our receiving corps but they had an NFL offensive line. LSU took away the rhythm throws, disguised coverages and focused on the short/intermediate throws. It's the only time in Fromm's career he's looked lost, and Chaney is an idiot (see this year's Tennessee offense) and made 0 adjustments. I also watched Ehlinger throw for 400 and 4 TDs (plus two bad dropped TDs on 4th down) and run for 60 (even with a couple sacks) and a TD in a game Texas should have won. Points are there against this defense but you don't get them playing vanilla.
I thought Auburn had more talent than us. I was wrong. I know LSU has more talent than we do because they have top 5 talent. We have better coaching. I hope it's enough. I think it will be.
“I think there are some key components for our football team that aren't playing for us right now. And we're very thin in some areas. And it is what it is. I'm not making excuses, that's just the facts, and it's real. I think we've got a good staff and I think that we've got a really good football team. They're fighting their butt off this Saturday, first of all, and heading into spring. And I'm excited about that. I'm excited about this Saturday and our guys getting out and competing again."
I think we win this game with defense, but the offense is going to have to do enough to make that possible. That means don't fumble, limit interceptions and score on at least every other possession. Play smart. Be creative. Win on third down. Don't be afraid to go for it on fourth and short.
Our defensive front has to shake up their quarterback early like they did with Nix. I'm hoping Greenard has a huge game. We need some picks. It would be especially nice if the defense would score.
We can't lose our focus for even a second. LSU is a tough team. This game is always super physical. I watched the condensed version of last year's LSU game and it was high intensity throughout. That's the only way you beat these guys. The whole "Death Valley at night" thing does have an effect, just like opponents playing in The Swamp, and we've got to be ready and not get rattled.
I think we'll see some new stuff from up Mullen's sleeves. I think we may have to fight from behind. Just keep swinging, keep fighting hard.
