I don't see it personally, Trask was too good last year even if Jones does have the higher ceiling in this offense. I think he'll get an expanded package for sure and possibly even a dedicated series or two per half, but a full out battle in a short camp? I doubt it.
“I think there are some key components for our football team that aren't playing for us right now. And we're very thin in some areas. And it is what it is. I'm not making excuses, that's just the facts, and it's real. I think we've got a good staff and I think that we've got a really good football team. They're fighting their butt off this Saturday, first of all, and heading into spring. And I'm excited about that. I'm excited about this Saturday and our guys getting out and competing again."

I still don't understand this obsession by media outlets and recruiting obsessed fans that Kyle Trask is not deserving of being the starter and Emory Jones is this amazing player that is being held back and deserves to start because "he can run".
Big deal, he can run, but he's not the size of Tebow or Dak where just having him plow away full time is the best idea. His running will complement his passing for sure, but its as if all these people are blind and just overly nitpick Kyle Trask while elevating EJones to this top tier level.
FFranks best football was played in a stretch of 3 games in 2018 in Idahoe, FSU and Michigan. That is the only time FFranks ever looked confident and in control of himself. FFRanks then regressed to start 2019 with a horrible performance vs scUM (i dont care what the stats say, rewatch that game and look at all the poor decisions and lack of reading the field that took place) and practically doing everything possible to lose vs KY. KTrask came in, won the KY game FFRanks almost loss and ran the offense the rest of the season as good as FFranks in those 3 games in 2018 without the OL or ground attack FFranks had in 2018.
Its as if people forget how putrid the QB play was from 2010-2017 and the notion that KTrask just shouldn't play in 2020 bc..... hes not a runner.
I like Emory Jones and he has made some nice passes (something Jones' fans always point out) but he also led a 3 and out drive against dismal FSU when he had to start deep in FSU territory. Not a true knock, but if people are going to overpraise the positive, they need to look at the neutral to negatives as well.
Another notion i never understand is how people just assume the OL will be as poor as 2018. The addition of Reese and the other players all having experience now should have the OL improved at a minimum. There's not 1 QB (dual threat or pocket passing) that wont benefit from a good OL and running game. Id also point out if you go back and watch game film. Fla actually ran the ball well in the limited plays where Trask was under center and not in shotgun. Why not implement a bit of that some more with both Trask and EJones in 2020?
I don't have a problem with EJones continuing to get reps and play, but this notion that KTtrask is just trash and Fla can't win with him bc "hes not a runner" (he actually isn't the worst for a guy 6'4" 239 lbs when he does run and of course hes nowhere the runner of EJones) is ridiculous. Once his knee got healthier from the Aub game Trask moved better (once again for a Pro passer of his size) and isnt a statue like John Brantley per se.
Regardless, i feel Ktrask doesn't get the respect and support he deserves from Gator Nation (not all of Gator Nation clearly) for all he has already done. I'm also going to be curious to see if in 2021 we will see these same fans calling for A.Richardson to start bc "he can run" also. I know EJones will be the starter in 2021 should things play out but i actually think A.Richardson is going to be really special at UF as well.
