Wow! Didn't see this coming. Jalen Carter has some legal trouble on the way. Should we expect a fall in his draft position? es.pn/3EMq23Q

Of course, he plans to "clear his name". The police became suspicious when he gave them inconsistent stories.

Occupational hazard: he shouldn't have given any story whatsoever without an attorney. There's a line in Shrek 2 that used to be on a loop in the car when kids were little where he tells Donkey "you have the right to remain silent, what you lack is the capacity." When I heard this story it was all that popped into my head. Oh and my UGA friends telling me that sources in the program say Jalen is a great guy.
Reality is that he's got plenty of time to rehab his image to the extent it needs to be rehabbed. There's no indication of him driving drunk (he came back 2 hours later, not sure if they did BAC but supposedly no signs of impairment) although I would hazard a guess that he had been smoking pot, but that's pure speculation (I don't think he comes back to the scene if there's any alcohol in his system, but 2 hours later the effects of weed are gone and/or easy to hide). Talent trumps all, and the kid has it. As crazy as it sounds some scouts will look at this en toto as a good thing. The real knock on him was that he takes plays off and doesn't love football. The fact that he came back to do the interview portion might be looked at as "he cares." His tape speaks for itself. He is a power DT who can play 3 or 4 technique and he just manhandles people. You can't really prove that at the combine but the tape of him picking up Daniels with one arm after splitting a double team and ragdolling the guy across from him in the SECCG kind of speaks for itself. He'll still go top 5 I bet. 10 for sure.
