Alright, probably picking nits here, but it's Spring and since it's either get updates on the #11 recruiting class in the country (yay! seriously cannot believe we're celebrating being 11 like it's some sort of accomplishment), listen to fans talk about how great Big Des is already and going to be once he gets down to 360 (because if history tells us anything it's that Desmond Watson is sure to lose 90 lbs), and/or read about the riveting QB battle between Graham Mertz and Jack Miller, here's our explanation for last year:

The Good, it's relative at this point:
"But all those things combined, I think your time is divided,” Napier said, per The Tampa Bay Times’ Matt Baker. “We got some things established, but we didn’t do it with detail, we didn’t do it with discipline, we didn’t have the team dynamic."- He recognizes the problem at least, since beggars can't be choosers we'll overlook the fact that when he came in he preached details and discipline neither of which showed on the field last year.
The Bad:
“I’d just left a place that was a well-oiled machine to some degree. But it didn’t get there overnight.”- So Louisiana was a well-oiled machine but UF isn't? What about the budget for staff that you asked for and got which is the most in the nation. It took time? He tied for first place in his division his first year and won the conference the next 2. Also, here's a crazy thought, maybe what works to establish a Sunbelt powerhouse doesn't work in the SEC. I think this is revisionist history and trending toward excuse making, but all coaches do it at some level so let's stay positive.
The Ugly:
“Reality is, first year — I’d say even 2 years — you’re giving away 2 years of your life to some degree,” Napier said, per Baker. “It takes a while to get it going.”- And there it is. That is the problem right there. I'm not going to look at his quotes from the time of his hire because I'll get more frustrated, but I know damn well he didn't say anything like that. Also this is not the climate we live in, at least not winners. Dykes took a 6-7 team from 21 to the national championship. Kelly won the West coming into a very similar situation to what Napier inherited. Riley went from 4-8 to 11-3. Oregon may have made the playoffs with a healthy Bo Nix (ridiculous but true). There's 17 first year coaches ahead of him on this list that graded him considerably better than most:

And now he's already hedging on year 2. If we don't get rid of Stricklin next year we're most likely hearing "you know it takes at least 3 years, you're kind of directionless the first three years, and the first year was year 0 and then year .5 but we have some problems with NIL so that doesn't really count so now we're in year .75 so we haven't really been here a year if you think about it logically," That mentality steers the program further in the mouth of this perfect storm of a sinking AD, pissed off boosters, and School Presidents that consider athletics beneath them. If we don't get out of that way of thinking sooner than later the damage may become largely irreparable. I hope Billy can do it because he's a real-deal Billy with good hair, but if he's not the guy get a real AD in here, kick the two bozos out, and overhaul it because we're well past the definition of insanity.
