Florida State would consider leaving ACC due to revenue distribution"Our goal would be to continue to stay in the ACC, but staying in the ACC under the current situation is hard for us to figure out how we remain competitive unless there were a major change in the revenue distribution within the conference," McCullough said. "That has not happened. Those discussions are ongoing at all times.
"FSU helps to drive value and will drive value for any partner, but we have spent a year trying to understand how we might fix the issue. There are no easy fixes to this challenge, but a group of us have spent literally a year. We've explored every possible option that you can imagine. The issue at hand is what can we do to allow ourselves to be competitive in football and get what I think is the revenue we deserve?

I don’t really think this is true. They definitely had a choice. It’s pretty well documented that joining the ACC was a decision. Finebaum just played a phone call with Bowden from 2015 today that basically confirmed as much. It was the other way around.

It wasn't until the 1990s that the SEC showed any interest.

FSU tried to get into the SEC twice, and were twice rejected. It wasn't until the 1990s that the SEC showed any interest. You're both right. Back in the day the SEC spurned FSU. In modern times the SEC would take FSU in a heartbeat. FSU would also come over just as fast, but they signed one of the worst contracts in the history of ever with the grant of rights running until 2036. If FSU wants to leave they probably need to find half a billion dollars lying around. 247sports.com/Article/Conference-realignment-ACC-schools-would-have-to-pay-500-million-to-leave-per-report-189838392/While I think the Big 10 or SEC (in that order) would be happy to have FSU, neither is helping them with that buyout, not enough juice for the squeeze. If I had to guess I would think the Big 10 would be the ones to make the move because the SEC has absolutely no need. End of the day this seems to be a very poorly approached game of chicken with the ACC on the part of FSU or an effort to create enough chaos and discontent amongst the member schools that a majority votes to disband the conference. Call me crazy but I would think that Clemson and possibly even North Carolina would have more appeal to the SEC because one has been nationally relevant in the not too distant pass and the other is really the keystone school for the conference in addition to being a blue blood in basketball and national brand. So, good luck with that Noles. Delusional entitlement is a bad thing in business.

I take back that shameful comment. I realize they beat a ranked team last year, LSU in week 2. And also beat a (terrible) Florida team by a touchdown. AND AND AND! they came in second in the Atlantic Division of the mighty ACC so... clearly they are BACK BABY, BACK! And entitled to the big bucks anybody will throw at them.

Colin Cowherd (yes, I know) has said that FSU and Clemson will be in the SEC within 18 months.
