Read this article and it got wheels spinning and down the rabbit hole I went:
247sports.com/longformarticle/sec-football-coaches-ranked-entering-2023-season-212929691/#2197764
Most recent national lists I saw had RDB with the steady hair at 45:
www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/ranking-college-football-coaches-1-133-2023-season/y3nlbowe269fmvboapuw4ep2
and 57:
www.ranker.com/list/best-current-college-football-coaches/ranker-college-football
SEC rankings have him at 11: www.on3.com/news/2023-sec-football-head-coach-rankings-kirby-smart-steals-the-top-spot-from-nick-saban/
and 11: www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-coach-rankings-2023-lsus-brian-kelly-rises-as-alabamas-nick-saban-fends-off-challengers-for-top-spot/
Obviously this has to change sooner than later. I think if he fully embraced the CEO head coaching role which would play to his strengths (recruiting, organization and planning, player buy in, passion and energy, getting money out of the administration) and mitigate his weaknesses (game planning, play calling, in game strategy/adjustments) there is a clear path to success. Say this for our 2 NC winning coaches in the modern era, they knew and fully embraced who they were. SOS was a smartass who threw it around and beat you with a smile on his face and Urban was a smug asshole who thought he was the smartest guy in the room and was generally right. Napier needs to do the same, be the guy who reads prepared statements and answers questions clearly and concisely in a controlled setting rather than the stammering, nonsensical, awkward pausing cliche machine that emerges once he's off script. I'll take the hit on material to parody in exchange for the program heading the right way. Go Gators.
