SEC
Georgia 43, Florida 20 - And it wasn't that close. Apart from the first drive (which gave us our only highlight of the game), play calling was atrocious. Florida continues to misuse and underuse Trevor Etienne. Special teams were an issue yet again with a punt that was blocked for a safety (and was very nearly a touchdown). The Gators were outgained by almost 150 yards, and their passing yards per play were just over half what Georgia's were - and UGA was without Brock Bowers.
Tennessee 33, Kentucky 27 - Probably the most entertaining game of the day in the SEC. After the Vols took a 10-0 first quarter lead, the Wildcats scored 17 points in the second to make it a six point game at half (23-17). Kentucky got to within 26-24 in the third quarter.
Texas A&M 30, South Carolina 17 - After the Gamecocks took a 7-0 first quarter lead, the Aggies scored 21 points in the second quarter and it was essentially over. Shane Beamer's plummet continues.
Ole Miss 33, Vanderbilt 7 - The Rebels led 26-0 at the half and backed off.
Auburn 27, Mississippi State 13 - The Bulldogs' offense is even more inept than ours. They have scored 20 points total in the last two games.
National games
Kansas 38, Oklahoma 33 - A nine yard touchdown run with 55 seconds remaining won it for the Jayhawks. Oklahoma was outscored 21-12 in the second half after leading 21-17 at the break.
Southern California 50, California 49 - The Golden Bears had this game won, then the turnover bug hit. Cal led 43-29 in the fourth quarter, and the Trojans scored 21 points off turnovers. Cal got a touchdown with 58 seconds remaining. They went for the win and missed the two point conversion.
Penn State 33, Indiana 24 - The game was tied at 24 in the fourth quarter. After scoring a touchdown with 1:46 remaining, the Nittany Lions recorded a safety 13 seconds later.
Arizona 27, Oregon State 24 - Entertaining game with a lot of scoring. The Wildcats led 13-10 after three quarters, and the teams scored 14 points apiece in the fourth.
Georgia Tech 46, North Carolina 42 - The Tarheels blew a 35-24 lead in the fourth quarter. Tech apparently only likes even numbered quarters, scoring 24 points in the second and 22 in the fourth, zero in the first and third. Over 1,200 yards of total offense.
Fresno State 24, UNLV 17 - A battle of 6-1 teams in the Mountain West. Trailing in the waning seconds, a Rebel receiver dropped a wide open touchdown pass on second and goal. On the following play, the Bulldogs intercepted a pass inside the five yard line.
UCLA 28, Colorado 16 - The Buffaloes continue to struggle after early success. They scored two field goals in the first half. The only thing preventing this game from becoming a blowout in the first half was four Bruin turnovers before halftime.
James Madison 30, Old Dominion 27 - The Dukes led 30-17 in the third quarter. The Monarchs scored the final ten points to make it interesting.
Miami 29, Virginia 26, OT - The Cavaliers led for much of this game. A 48 yard field goal with 1:23 remaining tied it for Miami. The Hurricanes scored a touchdown after Virginia had kicked a field goal in the OT.
North Carolina State 24, Clemson 17 - The Tigers trailed 24-7 in the fourth quarter. It's almost as if Trevor Lawrence was to Dabo Swinney what Tim Tebow was to Urban Meyer. Once Lawrence left, Swinney has had nothing else. NC State had only nine first downs and 202 yards of total offense, but Clemson had two turnovers. Clemson is 4-4 with Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and South Carolina remaining. They could conceivably finish 4-8, or at the very least fail to qualify for a bowl game.
Memphis 45, North Texas 42 - The Tigers came from behind on a 36-yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds remaining.
West Virginia 41, Central Florida 28 - The world champion Golden Knights remain winless in Big 12 play. Leading 24-21 after three quarters, the Mountaineers blew the game open with 17 consecutive points to lead 41-21. Four turnovers for UCF.
Northwestern 33, Maryland 27 - The Terrapins have dropped three straight after starting 5-0.
UTEP 37, Sam Houston 34 - Looking for their first win since moving to FBS, the Bearkats led 27- 13 in the third quarter. The Miners won on a 32 yard field goal with three seconds remaining, sending SH to 0-8 on the season.
