Maybe “it” was inexplicably going for two and having another special teams blunder (kicking unit coming on the field for an illegal substitution penalty) allowing the game to go into overtime?

I had to go to a wedding halfway through the 3rd so I missed all the real fun.

We did manage to surrender 39 points to a team who managed three against Mississippi State.

Yeah, any time you give up 30+, the loss is on the defense. It's, wait for it...indefensible. Badda bing! Thank you very much, I'll see myself out.

But seriously, what we did was another first. First time Arky has beaten the Gators in Hogtown. Another first! I tell ya, ole Billy keeps stacking up the uh, well, they are L's, but they are firsts!

Don't worry guys. We're getting better and better. floridagators.com/watch/?Archive=23094&type=ArchiveNone of the reporters asked Billy why, when Etienne goes 20 yards every time he touches the ball, he was on the sidelines in overtime. Be interested in hearing why.

Of the various stupid things we do this is absolutely a fireable offense:
Complete pass to TE for a first down with 8 seconds left, the field goal team (probably having received a signal from the analyst in charge of game hanging) runs onto the field. By rule this means arkansas has time to send in subs including after the chains are moved and the official sets the ball, instead the official spots the ball AND the clock doesn’t start, we get a penalty that includes a ten second run off but the officials don’t assess it because “the clock was stopped.” Again not the rules and an absolute gift. We lose anyway but we should have lost solely due to coaching gaffes that continually happen. Montrell Johnson has 15 touches and averaged 2.9 per carry and 5.7 per reception. Etienne had 14 and averaged 6.7 per carry and 21.5 per reception. That’s not bad coaching that’s failing 1st grade math. Gutsy graham the checkdown man cannot complete a pass that travels more than 15 maybe 20 yards in the air. Desmond Watson literally stands up and doesn’t move on 80% of his snaps. We’re generally out of timeouts with 8 minutes left in the game. Once an offense finds a play or scheme that works we don’t adjust until maybe a week or two later, but we’re “always evaluating.” This is broken and it’s getting worse. At this point I don’t care if Billy with the good hair somehow holds the class, he’s had 2 extremes outliers in Anthony richardson and etienne and probably has another one in Wilson and he has no idea how to use them. If he hires an OC it’ll be a yes man from the sunbelt. It’s a joke, and not a very good one. We’ll once again lose more in the portal than we gain but we’ll claim victory nonetheless. Just like “Montrell is a pretty good player like I told you” after he runs for 120 yards against fucking Vanderbilt. We’re not getting better. Getting better means you win more games than the year before. Not the same, and certainly not less. Once again I think maybe little Billy spent a little too much time perfecting his hairstyle and not enough in first grade math. Absolute clown show. Next year we will be lucky to be a top 12 team in the 15 team SEC. I just do not get this. Even less than mullen or mcgoober, I understood the thinking on those evals as flawed as it was. This guy absolutely positively CANNOT COACH

I was thinking the same thing, that our kicking unit just ran onto the field at the wrong time and we’re going to get a ten second runoff. I also think he makes that kick had it been 5 yards closer. These things just don’t happen to real coaching staffs.
It’s just the same mistakes over and over that bother me most.

Florida's kicking team ran onto the field even though the offense was scrambling to line up to spike the ball with seconds left.
“There's no question there was confusion there,” Napier said. “That one I haven't been around before."
WTF? By “not been around” is he talking about football in general? Could he not ever think of a scenario when he would be involved with the offense at the end of the game and wouldn’t be able to devote his entire attention to what the special teams unit was doing? If you insist on calling offensive plays, you must have someone responsible for knowing when to send out the other personnel - preferably within ear and eyeshot of said personnel.

To Taps' point about Big Des, I made a point of watching him after the snap several times today. I never saw him leave the line of scrimmage. Usually he would bump into an offensive lineman and then stand there. The last part I get, because there is zero chance that he is running anyone down.

Obviously he is playing zone there and that’s a thing that sometimes there’s a deal where he gets there and then anyone who knows RDB outside of his almost two year stint in the SEC can tell you it’s going to be evaluated but also can be a good thing.

Of course. He's dropping into pass coverage to make the best use of his talents. How silly of me not to notice that.
