SEC
LSU 52, Florida 28 - The brief 28-24 lead in the third quarter was fool's gold. Most yardage surrendered in school history. Poor tackling, abysmal coverage by the DBs. But hey, we won time of possession. It has gotten to the point that an in depth dissection of yet another loss just isn't worth it.
Georgia 52, Ole Miss 17 - Close early on, but 28-14 at the half and 38-14 after three quarters. Georgia had more total yards by more than 250.
Alabama 49, Kentucky 21 - Never really a contest, as it was 28-7 at the half. Kentucky had 11 first downs. Alabama clinched the SEC West.
Missouri 36, Tennessee 7 - Mizzou led 13-7 at the half, but Tennessee didn't score again. Three turnovers by the Vols.
South Carolina 47, Vanderbilt 6 - It was 27-0 at the half and game over.
Auburn 48, Arkansas 10 - Just in case you believed that the Razorbacks found their offensive mojo last week. It was 27-3 at the half, and what suspense remained was eradicated by a 21-0 third quarter by Auburn.
Texas A&M 51, Mississippi State 10 - Another game that was decided by halftime, 34-10 at the half. MSU's four turnovers didn't help the cause.
National games
Washington 35, Utah 28 - The Utes led 28-24 at the half, but didn't score again. As the score indicates, most of the fireworks occurred before halftime. Rain that fell throughout most of the second half accounted for much of that.
Oregon 36, Southern California 27 - It wasn't this close. The Ducks led 36-14 in the fourth quarter. Oregon outgained SC by almost 200 yards.
Michigan 24, Penn State 15 - The Nittany Lions' last score came with less than two minutes remaining. Michigan scored 14 points after Penn State took a 3-0 first quarter lead. Jim Harbaugh was serving a suspension. Neither team lit it up offensively, as both were under 300 yards for the game, and both were well under 100 yards passing.
Texas Tech 16, Kansas 13 - The Red Raiders beat the Jayhawks for the 16th time in their past 17 meetings. A 30 yard field goal on the final play decided it.
Arizona 34, Colorado 31 - Another game that was decided by a field goal on the final play, this one 24 yards. The game was tied four times.
Tulane 24, Tulsa 22 - The Green Wave aren't playing like a top 25 team, struggling against lesser teams for the past two weeks. The Golden Hurricane scored a touchdown with 3:30 remaining, but did not make the two point conversion to tie.
Central Florida 45, Oklahoma State 3 - The Cowboys apparently spent everything in the win over Oklahoma. They had four turnovers, but that doesn't totally explain a six-touchdown beatdown. They were already behind 24-0 when a third quarter field goal averted a shoutout.
Texas 29, TCU 26 - The Horned Frogs scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to make it interesting.
North Carolina 47, Duke 45, 2OT - It was 16-14 NC at the half. A 43-yard field goal on the final play of regulation tied it for the Tarheels. Duke missed a two point conversion in the second overtime after the teams traded field goals in the first.
Illinois 48, Indiana 45, OT - The Hoosiers tied the game on a 28-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds remaining. The Illini scored a touchdown after Indiana kicked a field goal in OT.
Maryland 13, Nebraska 10 - This three-point loss came at home for the Huskers. After Nebraska lost to Michigan State by three on the road last week, Maryland duplicated the feat with a 6-0 fourth quarter, the clincher a 24 yard field goal on the final play.
Sam Houston 42, Louisiana Tech 27 - No false alarm this time. The Bearkats got their first win as an FBS program against FBS opposition. They were outgained, but the Bulldogs turned the ball over four times.
Arizona State 17, UCLA 7 - A field goal by the Sun Devils was the only scoring in the first half. A 17-yard touchdown run with 3:03 remaining sealed it for ASU.
Hawaii 27, Air Force 14 - After cracking the top 25 and having an outside chance at a playoff spot, the Falcons have dropped two straight. This was their first loss in conference. Hawaii was 3-7 going in, so this was a bad loss. AFA had four turnovers, giving them ten in the past two games.
San Jose State 42, Fresno State 18 - The Bulldogs were possibly on the verge of entering the top 25. The Spartans, who entered the evening at 4-5, led 21-3 after one quarter and the game was pretty much over. Fresno's two turnovers didn't help. This leaves Air Force and UNLV tied for the conference lead at 5-1. Those two teams meet in Colorado Springs next Saturday.
