I was just thinking that FRZ was started as a result of Zook and his lousy 23-15 record during his tenure.

FRZ actually started right after Zook was hired. The creator of the board realized that it made no sense to hire a coach who had been demoted as a coordinator within the program as head coach.

That makes sense. RDB not much more qualified.
Whatever happened to Bag head?

That makes sense. RDB not much more qualified. Whatever happened to Bag head? He's less qualified from a relevant experience standpoint. Zook had been DC at 3 non-sunbelt schools for a total of about 7 years and was coming off a 2 year stint as an NFL DC. Napier has 2 years of OC experience at Clemson where he was fired by his mentor and then Arizona State where the coach got fired. Zook also put in time as this weird coaching position called special teams coordinator whereas Napier was an analyst/coffee boy and then a WR coach. But he's got a plan and is always evaluating and analyzing for his process so he's got that going for him. Which is nice.

Whatever happened to Bag head? Once the mission was accomplished, Baghead faded into history. Baghead appointed me as a moderator on the board. Although we had numerous conversations in PM, I never met Baghead or discovered his true identity. As one of the few remaining original members of FRZ, and the only moderator that I know of who is still active on message boards, I have tried to keep the legacy alive by keeping some of the best bits from the original board. After Baghead left, I continued to run the message board at FRZ until a hacker destroyed it. Then I made a fresh start with this board. I have always suspected that the same hacker who destroyed the first iteration of this board also took down FRZ. The guy apparently made a hobby of it. I warned the admin of an FSU board when I heard that he was hanging out over there, and he also destroyed the SEC Rivals board after provoking an argument with an admin. We hosted SECR for a brief time while they rebuilt.

Thanks for all you do Mo. I've been around since the FRZ days and have enjoyed it all these years. That hacker though, was something. A-hole. But we move on. RG

Hard to believe that more than 20 years have passed since it was created. There have been multiple imitators since, but FRZ was the original. It has gotten to the point that as soon as a coach is hired, someone registers the domain name Fire (enter coach's name here) in hopes of later selling it.

Those early FRZ days were wild! I was there under a different username until it got blown up. This is my real go to for Gator gossip these days but I do lurk on the Reddit board too. I have a few podcasts I’ll listen to when work is slow but nothing I check up on as much as this board.

The early days wasn't just a time or place to vent, it also taught life lessons. I can't tell you how many times I have thought about the fact that, when night golfing you should always beware of men in black lurking behind the greens.

I got kicked off Gator Country for saying that Ron Zook was not the best man for the job - in pretty much those words. As soon as he was fired, people there were piling on, saying things far beyond what got me banned just a couple of years earlier.

I found this board during the final years of the Muschamp era because i got so turned off to the Sunshine Pumping propaganda of Alligator Army. I would get notices from that Andy Hutchins doofus threatening to censor me because i had the audacity to question Muschamp and Foley. No cursing, no radical hate speech, never took shots at the players, just constructive criticism at the way the program was being ran and my honest takes. Yet Little Andy acted like he needed a safe space reading my comments and others who felt similar.

I started college in fall 2002 — the Zooker's first season — and graduated in spring 2005, after he'd been fired for Urban but before Urban had coached a game (I did get to go to his first Orange and Blue Game though).
Bill Cosby was the headliner at Gator Growl my freshman year. That's a history lesson right there.
I've lurked on the FRZ boards and followed their iterations but have never been a terribly prolific poster. I remember Mergz posting a photo in like 2008 on his brand new iPhone. I loved reading Bag head's rants and tales of the tape; especially beloved was a short stage play he wrote referencing Maui Teriyaki, my favorite restaurant in the world.

We started our local Gator Club the last year that Zook was head coach. Combined with an almost total lack of cooperation from the UFAA (a long story for another time), it's a wonder that we survived.
Whenever the team declines, attendance at watch parties follows. We had about 10-12 people for LSU last week. When I arrived, I was the only one in the room. During the Meyer years, we were running 40-60, and we had nearly 100 for the Ohio State title game. I'm expecting crowds in the single digits for the last couple of games. Given the relative lack of interest, in our case it's probably a blessing that there won't be a bowl game.

I jumped on board the original site after that disastrous 2003 Miami game, but the one that pushed me over the edge was the 2004 Tennessee game. There were so many ways we gave that game away due to coaching in the final 2-3 minutes alone.

I had kicked around joining FRZ, and after the first half of the Miami game I had decided not to. It appeared that he had figured it out. Then came the second half. That game was the tipping point for me, even though we learned more by losing the game than we would have had we won it.

I suppose Nick Saban hasn't learned much the last 20 years or Kirby Smart the last handful. Dumbasses. They keep winning games and giving up the opportunity to learn something. RG
