The ESPN loudmouth ripped Auburn for not hiring Deion. Now he is pushing him for the Texas A&M job. Maybe they could win their first three games before collapsing.

That's ridiculous. I've been converted to a Sanders fan, but I'm not hiring him anywhere in FBS until he sustains something. His defense has been exposed all year and his offense, though entertaining, is one-dimensional. The PAC12 has shown that they can consistently beat this team - why would you want him as your coach in the SEC? Maybe in a few years, if he improves, but not now. RG

I’m with you though in the sense that I’m likely not hiring Sanders right now as my #1 given a full coaching search and assuming we can do better. I would, however, swap him for our current bloated coaching staff and off site game changing coordinators in a heartbeat. Part of me wonders if he is really in it for the long haul though once his sons leave.

I have had the same thought - that this may be nothing more than a vehicle to put his sons in an FBS program in an effort to enhance their professional futures.
Of course, they are already driving Rolls Royces to practice. I have to wonder how this strikes their teammates of much lesser means. They were also brought in from Jackson State and immediately handed starting positions.

CU was so desperate they probably figured "how bad could they be?" and also "they'll be gone in a few years". And well, both of those are right. Shedeur is a real deal QB. Not without some flaws, like waiting too long to get out of the pocket, but he can sling it. Shilo is a pretty decent DB also. Whether Prime is in it for the long haul, who knows? It will definitely depend on what interest he draws from better schools. Deion himself is enhancing his future as he goes, as he should. But never believe a coach who says they're not interested in a better offer. RG

Send us the sanders. All 3 of them. And hunter. He can bring shurmur but somebody needs to tell him to lose Charles Kelly and bring in someone who can recruit and coach the lines of scrimmage. Brian Cox works, Ike Hilliard for wide receivers coach. Charlie strong would make a nice DC.
An offense with shaduer handing it to etienne and throwing it to tre Wilson and Hunter along with some of the other young guys? Sign me up. Immediately. Watch how much better our line would get when all 11 guys can’t stay with 20 yards of the line of scrimmage and someone has to stay home on the weakside.
The problem is Deion won early and put a scare into usc when they were ranked. Everybody got over their skis. He’s already over their pre-season total at 3.5 and has only lost one game That they had as much or more talent (Stanford). He’s not as good as the media made him out of the gate (yet) and he’s nowhere near as bad as the haters want him to be as he loses down the stretch. If you listen to the media that doesn’t like him he should have won last week as a 10 point underdog to a team that is 44 spots higher in the rankings. Keeping that game close was impressive. He needs to make adjustments but he’s shown a willingness to do so.
What I also like about him is he scares our rivals with good reason. Being from Tallahassee and living in Atlanta I can tell you there are Nole and dog fans that search the internet regularly looking for a writer bashing Deion. They defend Napier and preach patience because he’s “got a plan.” That tells you all you need to know. I’m a big believer in “you want to know about your coach (or potential hires) don’t ask your fans, ask your rivals. The same FSU fans who laid the hire of Patrick surtain and the leg up it gives them in recruiting will tell you Deion can’t recruit south Florida. He’d also get gameday back to Gainesville or wherever he goes probably out of the gate and if he has success the media coverage will follow and the draft stock will rise.
Also, Stephen A. is a moron. Most of the time he’s wrong and/or looking for clicks, but even a blind squirrel gets a bit from time to time

But never believe a coach who says they're not interested in a better offer. Like Mel Tucker, the "Buffalo for life"? Deion is saying all the right things - for now. That he wants to build something where he is, etc. Let's see how quickly his interest in Colorado wanes once there is no one named Sanders on the roster.

My biggest question mark of Coach Prime is his rebuilding via the portal. His logic is that these are proven D1 players, not question marks out of high school with talent, but with unknowns in work ethic and football IQ. It was a genius move, allowing him to win immediately with a school that couldn't win at Pee Wee Football. But is it his only move? Can he sustain the rebuild that way, or does he need to work harder on recruiting the high school kids? Obviously, you need to do both in this era, but you have to strike a balance.
When the Sanders kids graduate, will he move on? Probably. Maybe sooner than that, but he'll have put his stamp on the program in Boulder. As I think about that statement, he's not going if his kids are not going. Could he possibly drag them to a new(er) destination?

I don’t believe for one second that he is staying in Colorado longer than he has to. My question is why would he continue to coach anywhere? Does he really want to step that deeply into the coaching career at this point in his life after his kids are done with college? I think he could do it at a high level and has the drive given how much of a competitor his is. That is the only reason he would, though, because he doesn’t need money and so the only motivator after the kids move on is him wanting to prove he can beat the best of the best. I think he goes to FSU if the gig becomes available, but not sure he continues to mess around with other programs in between.

The ESPN loudmouth ripped Auburn for not hiring Deion. Now he is pushing him for the Texas A&M job. Maybe they could win their first three games before collapsing. He's an asshat but he's far from the only one with that opinion: n.rivals.com/news/gorney-texas-a-m-should-hire-coach-primewww.sbnation.com/college-football/2023/11/13/23958782/texas-am-football-next-head-coach-candidates-deion-sanders-urban-daboHave you seen UF play recently? I would, however, swap him for our current bloated coaching staff and off site game changing coordinators in a heartbeat. Part of me wonders if he is really in it for the long haul though once his sons leave. This is where I'm at, except I don't think we can do better so he'd be pretty damn high on my list after some likely pipe dreams and Brian Johnson (who honestly isn't as qualified but I don't care, I've seen what he can do). Thing with him is he's either going to figure out the staff and gameday stuff and be a huge success or he's not and he'll go down in a blaze of glory, but what won't happen is a bunch of putting lipstick on a pig and acting like things are turning around when our composite team talent goes down and we have losing seasons. He'll leave a shitload of good athletes and if he flames out they probably aren't following him. I have had the same thought - that this may be nothing more than a vehicle to put his sons in an FBS program in an effort to enhance their professional futures. But never believe a coach who says they're not interested in a better offer. RG There's a chance that he is over it at some point but he really seems to love coaching and definitely loves the spotlight. I think he "needs" to have a pulpit and a bad Pac 12 team with limited resources is one thing, a destination job with endless funds, that's close enough to his recruiting base in the sunshine belt? That's another level, and Deion is all about leveling up. Also, I don't think either kid needed help Shaduer had offers from FSU, Bama, etc. etc. they were above his scouting report (28th pro style QB) because of his last name, but that's kind of a given. Shilo was lower ranked but good enough to sign with and enroll at South Carolina over FSU and Tennessee. As I think about that statement, he's not going if his kids are not going. Could he possibly drag them to a new(er) destination? RG I get it but here's the thing: Texas A&M would immediately have the most talented roster in the Pac 12. They're 4th in the country and 3rd in the SEC. Colorado after the roster turnover had the 6th best in Pac 10 barely beating Stanford and 35th in the country, but was extremely top heavy and had nothing along the line of scrimmage. The year before they were 11th in the Pac 12 and 63rd in the nation. If/when Sanders goes somewhere that has some semblance of talent he's not overhauling the roster, he's just adding to it. The reliance on the portal was because he inherited a 2 win team with literally no talent. Here's the UF pitch: You're doing all your blue chip kids including your son(s) a disservice by staying at Colorado. Shaduer's stock has dropped because he can't stay upright against a real Defense. Shilo doesn't have anybody that occupies blockers on the Defensive line. Hunter's stock has dropped more than anybody's because there's no pressure on the QB and he's exhausted from playing both ways since you can't take him off the field so it's physically impossible for him to cover anybody with a shot at the NFL for 6-8 seconds without getting cooked. Our worst 3rd string tackle is considerably better physically than anybody on your current roster. We've also got a back who averages 7 yards per touch and the best Freshman receiver in the country. Our TE may be preseason all SEC next year. Our 3 leading tacklers were 2 Freshman and a Sophomore. All of our best pass rushers will be back. You can cut any morbidly obese NT that you want if it seems like they are not inclined, willing, or able to change. It's win-win. If you're DJ Lagway who would you rather learn from Pat Shurmur with his 20+ years of NFL experience or Billy Napier? Who would it be better to back-up Sanders who is probably going to be a first round pick and plays a similar style or Graham Mertz who can teach you how to throw the ball behind the line of scrimmage pretty well? If you're a skill position kid from South Florida do you want to play for the guy from the hills of North Georgia/South Tennessee who played QB at Furman or arguably the greatest athlete of all time and nearly universally the best CB of all-time? It ain't rocket surgery. Deion will probably fuck up some game time decisions if he doesn't learn to delegate but Napier is literally the worst in game coach in the country. He's that bad. Alright I'll get out of dreamland. Let's hope Texas A&M isn't ready to take a chance this coaching cycle and that somehow we get rid of Stricklin and grab an AD who is willing to swing for the fences in place by this time next year.
