The final regular season college football game of the season. This is the 124th meeting. Both teams are 5-6, with Army opening as a 2.5 point favorite on early lines. A win would grant Army sole possession of the Commander in Chief's Trophy, since they defeated Air Force earlier. This year's game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA instead of in Philadelphia like recent games.
This game is everything to the players on both sides. Explaining the star in Navy's logo, a coach explained that every player on a team who beats Army gets a star added to his letter.

Army 17, Navy 11 - Most of the action took place in the fourth quarter. Army led 10-0 at the half after hitting a 47-yard field goal on the final play of the half. With Army leading 10-3 in the fourth quarter, an Army defender stripped the ball from the quarterback and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown with 4:49 remaining. Navy scored on a 14-yard pass with 2:47 left. For reasons that I cannot fathom, Navy went for two and missed it. With three seconds remaining, Navy was stuffed six inches short of a touchdown. Army took an intentional safety on the last play of the game. Navy's two turnovers didn't help.
A friend who follows such things said that the over/under on the game was 28. Army's safety on the final play moved it from the under winning to a push.
Next year, Army joins the American Athletic Conference, of which Navy is already a member. This sets up the possibility of an Army-Navy matchup in the AAC title game. I don't know whether this would take the place of the scheduled game, or whether there would be two Army-Navy games.
