GatorCountry linkThey have to find something for him because he’s an associate head coach and therefore his contract is guaranteed. Also he is from the sunbelt and those guys don’t grow on trees

The new plan: help the guys gain muscle and lose fat! I have it on good authority that it is the other way around. The strategy is code named DW 21.

Coaching football at an elite level is tough. Your work product is out in the open for everyone to watch, and your mistakes are played in slo-mo highlight reels. It demands 100-hour weeks all year long, time away from family, constant stress. And most coaches never achieve the pinnacle of conference and national championships.
But there is also a base level competence, and it's not unreasonable to demand the following from a UF coach:
1. Recruit year round as if you actually want the players to come here.
2. Fine tune your offense to maximize your players' gifts.
3. Prepare your defense for opposing teams and make in-game adjustments as needed.
4. Minimize procedural penalties and unnecessary timeouts.
5. Make sure your special teams can made every kick every time.
6. Have your strength and conditioning team maximize your players' physical gifts by using time testing, well, strength and conditioning methods.
7. Make consistent and progressive improvements each game.
8. Take ownership of the mistakes. It's ultimately your work product out there; your redshirt sophomore kicker or long snapper is not the problem.
At this point, what is Napier doing RIGHT? Not saying he can't steer out of the skid, but he really just seems lost and unable to do any of the fundamentals well, let alone achieve elite status.

Of the many great things Urban Meyer did on the field at UF, probably my favorite story was the rehabilitation of Jarvis Moss. Moss came to UF under Zook as a star defensive end, but shortly after getting here he began losing weight and struggling. Zook moved him to linebacker and told him to pick up the pace, to stop dogging it on the field. Moss was ready to give up football for good. Meyer arrives and sits down with each player. Moss pours out his heart to him, tells him he desperately wants to be a good player but just doesn't feel right. Meyer realizes "hey now, I have access to the best hospital in the state" and sends him for testing and — wouldn't you know it — Moss has a severe staph infection in his bones. He gets antibiotics, gains 30 pounds, becomes a one man wrecking crew who sacks Troy Smith 30 or 40 times in the national championship game, gets drafted in the first round, and retires a millionaire. That's the sort of organizational competence Meyer brought to the table — not just football smarts, but plain old being-a-good-boss competence. www.heraldtribune.com/story/news/2005/10/14/moss-has-a-friend-in-meyer/28440927007/.

From an NFL team which has had only one winning season since he joined them in 2016, that being an 8-7-1 record in 2016. Impressive.

I just hope that a holistic approach really resonates with Desmond Watson. By the way, I love what you’ve done with the deck furniture on the titanic captain napier. And your hair is so steady.

Exactly. That franchise has been a mess.
But I wonder why he left NFL for a lesser paying job.

Pathetic. Fucking pathetic. I mean hilarious. He has to be trying to get fired at this point. There can't be any other way around it. I really hope it doesn't cost us Lagway or McCray by subjecting them to this nonsense or any of the underclassmen who have gotten a chance to start by attrition and therefore have some sort of misplaced loyalty to the DDD.

"Florida players advocated for Miles to assume Fitgerald's duties after he was named interim" is basically saying they couldn't find anyone else to take the job.

Jesse Ackerman named Associate Assistant Vice Co- Director of Player Development and Stuff So yet another coach who needs an overseer. We now have two babysitters on staff when those positions could have been used to hire an offensive coordinator and a special teams coach. Instead we get more meaningless titles and no real substance.

I have a new theory. Napier is trying to prove that his initial staff hires were really good by making even worse hires as replacements.
Toney, the 32 year old DC who had 2 years of Sun Belt experience as a coordinator has an atrocious year and leaves, you replace him with Titties McJiggles who has 1 year of Sunbelt experience as a coordinator and "steal" him from Bama where he had taken the job as a position coach (because that's a normal career path) by doubling his salary.
After 2 years of horrendous results from the S&C department you move your buddy Hocke to a football coaching position (because why not?), actually hire a real S&C coach who leaves after a month, so the response is "fuck it, let's go back to Hocke's intern who used to work at Duke with the water polo team, because the players like him and stuff."
The coup d' gras though is with calls for a real OC and all the Kool-Aid drinkers saying "he's making serious runs at all the big names" the fix on offense is "we were pretty good there back in that time when we played those teams that we losted to but we were close whereas nobody else processed against South Carolina and LSU so there's that deal," and you basically take away Sale's title and give it to his lackey because that's a plan of action there man!
We also hired the "GM type guy" from Texas A&M and the de facto fired DC from Auburn because those are the type of results that really flip Cajun Willie and Starkville Scotty's skirts. It really is pretty comical at this point. Watching the local honks try to circle the wagons as if this is all part of some master plan is pretty amazing stuff.

"Florida players advocated for Miles to assume Fitgerald's duties after he was named interim" is basically saying they couldn't find anyone else to take the job. I'm pretty sure the results he has produced over the past week or so speak for themselves. He didn't need an endorsement, so this is simply a reinforcement of what a great job he has done to earn the promotion.
