bleacherreport.com/articles/10107281-2024-senior-bowl-takeaways-jackson-powers-johnson-ol-group-steals-show-on-day-1"Pearsall was the best vertical receiver throughout the day. Not only does Pearsall have the speed to separate, but he did a fantastic job winning at the line of scrimmage. The 6'1" target does well to widen his stem to create space without sacrificing the ability to push upfield." He'll move up the boards. People forget how good he was downfield in 22. He turned into more of a possession guy last year by virtue of the QB, O-line, and play calling but the guy can get open and catches everything. Rooting for him, think he could be a really good #2 receiver in the NFL.

Good luck to him. He balled out under the circumstances. Some NFL team will be happy to have him. I think he’d be a great replacement for Berrios on the Dolphins. But I’m a Dolphin fan so there’s that.

But I’m a Dolphin fan so there’s that. Honestly I had forgotten how fast and talented he was down the field because of how he was utilized this year. He's closer to a budget store Cooper Kupp than a Danny Amendola. To be clear any comp to Kupp is a compliment.

My two teams, representing my current and former home cities, could both use him. The loss of Christian Kirk, and the consequent fade out of a once-certain playoff spot, showed the lack of receiving depth in Jacksonville. The Raiders need more than just Davante Adams, especially since they are expected to bring in an accomplished quarterback.

It did not go as I had planned to say the least.

Jacobs basically set himself up to fail. He skipped training camp over a contract dispute. Then there was the dissension on the team due to having the league's most dysfunctional coach, Josh McDaniels, who was gone before season's end. He dumped Derek Carr for nothing, Jimmy Garoppolo was a total bust, and that left rookie Aidan O'Connell to throw to Davante Adams. Living here and hearing all of the team scuttlebutt, I did not draft a single Raider for any of my fantasy teams. I knew that the offense was going to be a disaster.

Pearsall seems to have moved to a second round lock and most are saying early 2nd maybe even sneak into the first. If/when he puts together a good combine with a solid 40 he may just sneak up to the first. Again, it will be very telling of the NFL people's opinion of the play calling and coaching/development when a kid with 3rd day of even UDFA production is taken 3-5 rounds before his stats indicate he should be. I hate to say it but the best thing big picture that could happen to our program is opening up 2-4, Hell with the current powers that be it may need to be 1-5. If Napier and Mertz finish 2024 as the HC/QB combo it probably sets the program back at least 3 more years.

This could easily go in the CWT appreciation thread but I guess here is most apropos. Pearsall has entered most people's top 50 prospects even in a loaded WR class. Here's a sampling:
Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida
Ricky Pearsall was another receiver who had a great showing in the on-field drills. While this was no surprise, Pearsall showed some unexpected athleticism. He ran a 4.41 40, leapt a 42-inch vertical and hit 10-9 in the broad jump.
So last year we had Etienne, Pearsall, and Tre Wilson and were:
in a 7 team tie for 84th in the country in number of 30 yard plays this season, tied for last in the SEC with Vandy. 40 yard plays we were in a 10 way tie for 100th.
And that's being sold as progress with the SECOND BESTEST QB IN THE GATOR ERA SINCE TIM TEBOW. Let's say GGTCM really is not the problem (and fwiw I think he's like 20% of the problem), this is how CWT wants to play offense.

The number of plays of 30+ yards directly refutes Napier's claim of "a bunch of explosive plays". We were that bad with Piersall and Etienne. Subtract them and we have what, Dre Wilson? If he is smart, he will hit the portal as well.

Let’s calm down. This is all being evaluated. We have done a thorough job whereas the guys coming in, we have that are the right fit, high-character guys, not only in the field but as individuals themselves and also each other. We’re in the middle of the process, right? We are kind of in the middle of grooming some people to be explosive. We are still evaluating and figuring out exactly what that looks like in terms of who can throw, catch, and run. We went out and got a veteran Wisconsin receiver in the portal. Not only is Wisconsin known for explosive WR output, but he played with Graham Mertz back when they were tearing up BiG10 secondaries, so they have that - you know - connection of saying we’ve been there and done it before in the big moments. That experience will be more valuable than anything that happens in our players’ careers.
This is exactly where we wanted to be going into year three in this system. All part of the process, adjusting, and evolving to where we will ultimately end up. All will be revealed when it is revealed.
