gatorswire.usatoday.com/2024/02/25/florida-football-dj-lagway-nil-advisor/This seems like a soft sell of some not very good news. The timing is concerning. After 6 weeks on campus Lagway has decided it's time to get an outside advisor for NIL. The fact that the agency worked with Tim Tebow and Anthony Richardson isn't particularly comforting. Tebow played in a different world and AR left as quickly as he could after a year with Cajun Willie that had people believing he would go undrafted and still to this day claiming that Graham Mertz is a better QB. This seems like a vote of no confidence if there ever was one. I'm guessing that most incoming freshman are content to follow the advice and directions from their new school. The ones that I've seen hire advisors always do it during the recruiting process, not after they've been in the program for 6 weeks. That said, given the staff turnover and lack of proactive change on the offensive side of the ball along with the Offensive line somehow continuing to get worse, this is probably the smartest thing Lagway could do.

Yeah I don’t see how anything good is going to come of this. He must have finally got his copy of the playbook.

"It feels like I am becoming part of a new family, a family that cares about my success...". Gators not his new family but the money guys are? Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

I’ve never seen this kid play a down of football but, based on his decision-making off the field, I’m not sure he is cut out to be QB1. How he ended up in Gainesville under this train wreck of a coaching staff is beyond me. However, based on this news, I can only deduce he had no one looking out for his best interest during his recruitment process. Step one should have been to hire an NIL advisor.

Since I know nothing about NIL I have a question. When these guys sign up for a lucrative contract are there certain conditions? For example, if Lagway decides to bolt after one year do we still owe him massive amounts of money? This has become pro football.

The deals are by the year. You bolt after year one, you only collect year one. Which is still the perfect scenario for Lagway. He get a years worth of NIL money and a priceless QB education, care of Mertz and Real Deal Bill. That's something right there, I tell you BAMA is going to be so happy with what they get when he hits the portal.

New Portal window opening on April 15th. Could we really lose 2, 5 star QB's within one year, and with neither of them even suiting up for a game? No one will ever say the RDB era was not record setting!

Texas AM is about an hour away from Lagway's home town of Willis.

Yeah but does Texas A&M have the guy who got fired as an OC after scoring 3 points at home against Mississippi State working on "head coaching projects," and/or could their QBs face off in practice with a defense armed with the de facto fired DC of Auburn acting as the head coach of the defense and coaching the coaches on that side of the ball since he's the "Godfather" of the defense that rules the Sunbelt Conference with 28-33 year old portly reddish haired DCs jumping around on the sidelines either with or without a beard? And do they have the former intern of the guy who sent 2 whole people to the NFL combine (the same number as Holy Cross) this year running the S&C department? I think not. The players love that dude. They probably don't even have a sweet GM type guy that does some kind of roster management type deal as part of the process of evaluation and analysis since we stole that idea (and actual person) from their former coach who is getting paid 9 figures not to coach them anymore. They probably have this antiquated idea about having a special teams coach and one Offensive line coach. We have a whole department and are soon to get the tag team reformed. Texas A&M is a dying program. That's why we tricked our most respected coaches and best recruiters into going there. Oh yeah and our best Defensive player. And our leading tackler. Probably some other guys that I can't think of because I'm still playing checkers while the DDD plays chess. Not regular chess Chinese Chess. We wouldn't understand it but it's a thing that brings the things meticulously attending details and whereas the what for process thusly.
Game, set, match, General Napier.

Oh, come on. I'm sure all of the other top QB prospects send out congratulatory tweets to their coaches when they leave for another job.

Big Des was a huge (in every sense of the word) proponent of promoting Hocke's intern. He's gotten comfortable with this staff and it would probably take awhile for him to adjust to another staff. Consistency and repeatability is a lifestyle, even if it's consistently and repeatedly gaining weight.

The last sentence in the article that Spurrier said really sums it up

Spurrier's talking out loud now. So. That might be the end of Napier. I had the same thought. Up until now, OBC has been pretty much mum on the state of the program. Now he is questioning the structure, especially given the lack of results that it has generated.

Spurrier has always had the ability to call someone a dumb, incompetent, mf’er without actually saying it.

The last sentence in the article that Spurrier said really sums it up Hidden (but not hidden) in that sentence is the phrase “our best running back”. They probably took that quote out of context while he was in the middle of praising Montrell and our loaded running back room.

I said in an earlier thread that the one thing that stood out and gave me pause regarding Napier was SOS's silence. Well he is not silent anymore and things didn't seem to fall Real Deal Bill's way.

He's disgusted. I'm about to make the rounds on the sunshine pumping sites can't wait to see them spin this one. Jimbo Fisher was on ESPN Radio saying "somebody I forget who said you don't need so many coaches but you DO!" I assume he was referencing Spurrier, Dimbo holding court on how to run a program in this era is hilarious in and of itself but telling SOS he's wrong about how to run the FLORIDA GATORS PROGRAM is absurd and Napier-esque delusional. Dimbo and Cajun Willie are starting to remind me of each other except at one time Jimbo was actually a good Power 5 coordinator and offensive mind, not just real good at interviewing for jobs and kissing the right asses.
