Nice. Yet another advantage to not playing in a championship game, bowl game, or playoff is that you can make your decision to stay much earlier and get back to work with the new strength and conditioning coach ASAP.

I'm absolutely thrilled Mertz is back to help groom Lagway for this upcoming transfer portal.

www.si.com/college/florida/football/florida-gators-billy-napier-right-combination-veteran-leadership-young-talent-2024Systems in place, players who have gotten a year older in the last 12 months, unfinished business and now the right mix of veteran leadership and young talent? Should we even play the games or just go ahead and take our bye to round 2 of the playoffs. This article has me fired up, I could walk through an open door really slowly for this guy if I know what was on the other side. "We won five games. Point blank, that's not it," said quarterback Graham Mertz, who opted to return to Florida in 2024 rather than enter the NFL Draft. "That's why I'm back. And that's why we're fixing it." I don't know what "it" is, but point blank, it's not that. Yet, because we finish our business around these parts, Gutsy Graham and his band of merry men are gonna fix it anyways. Diabetic Desmond will be leading the other side of the ball. That's a big man.

Between that Mertz quote and Tyler the Intern's press conference that nobody asked for, I'm starting to wonder if part of the process isn't public speaking in a completely incoherent way.

I don't know how to embed YouTube shorts, but this is pretty awesome. Graham Mertz must be very blessed to have a girlfriend and haircut that look like that respectively.

Aww, yeah. This is EXACTLY what it was like in 2006 with Chris Leak and Tebow, except Mertz had a chance to go into the NFL draft. So in many ways it is even a bigger mentorship. Mertz is definitely dedicated to bringing the Gators back - almost as dedicated as he is to the hesher mullet life.

So he got to talk to coaches? On a visit? Holy cow! Then he got to see how they “coach the guys up” and that was probably enough for him..

Get used to seeing daily news like this now that the systems are built. Napier had time to meet with this recruit because we have a GM now. Also, I have a feeling we are looking at our next co-WRs coach in current GA David Doeker. He played and coached at Louisiana, and we just got an influx of funding to make some promotions.

Does the author of this article speak English? I was two sentences in when I caught a grammatical error and a typo.

Except Leak was a terrific QB who could fling it 50+ yards with accuracy and was slippery enough to run the option. Recall that it was the second quarter of the national championship game before he even had an incomplete pass.

Does the author of this article speak English? I was two sentences in when I caught a grammatical error and a typo. It's the Queens English in one of the foreign countries where we have sent the Napier army to, we got a lacrosse player from England in this class already and that sparkly unicorn kid from Germany in the last class so I'm think somebody from Scandinavia who currently plays soccer for a team named the Narwals is probably next in the pipeline. It's a process deal man. Right?

Recall that it was the second quarter of the national championship game before he even had an incomplete pass. Well, yeah, there's that. But otherwise, EXACTLY the same. Also, the combination is older because of Mertz, and that is what wins championships. So, this is how I see this developing. Napier is going to feel some pressure to play Lagway in spots this year even though he clearly does not want to. I expect zero deviation from the offensive scheme regardless of which QB is in the game, so Lagway will come in for some situations to either run the ball or throw a screen (RPO). He might run more often than throw and maybe even have a ball snapped between his legs, but how many legitimate game changing 3rd/4th and short opportunities do we expect to have? He is going to look great against Samford and UCF, but will get blown up against Georgia and LSU because of our offensive game plan and scheme. Maybe CWT completely surprises us and we see a brand new, wide-open, aggressive approach. But if we didn't see that with Richardson under center, then why do we expect anything different this year?

Deviation runs contrary to repeatability and therefore CANNOT happen. I'll give Napier this, he is consistent. He says the same words regardless of the question while somehow changing the context so minimally as to not really make any semblance of sense whatsoever. He calls plays consistently enough regardless of personnel that Anthony Richardson and Graham Mertz were operating in the same offense. Richardson made big things happen (both good and bad) because he would actually force the issue and not check down at every turn. We were also in more games so there was much less prevent, but as far as the underlying system and play calling? Repeatable as fuck cuz. He hasn't changed the composition of his actual staff (really in any way as noted below) or re-assigned duties other than whatever the Hell Ron Roberts is doing and saying "Russ will have more responsibilities because he reminds me of a young Billy Napier," at this point it seems appropriate to mention that said young William Taggert Napier was fired by his mentor as OC after a year. The best part is that he brags about this terribly ineffective "organization" as if he has the system beat. As I think about it, he talks a lot about evaluating and analyzing but not so much about adjustments. Maybe that's the missing piece, he just gathers information with no intent to use it.
Now here's something awesome, I did a very cursory review and CWT always hires by race. White coaches replace white coaches and black coaches replace black coaches. The one exception is Billy G who was on Mullen's staff and, more importantly, coached in the State of Louisiana during the time Napier was there. It's wild, and the definition of insanity, but I guess crazy is at least entertaining since the majority of the fanbase seems perfectly fine with the destruction of the program.

And really, that's the most important part - the "using of the information". Anyone can just "make evaluations".

So Lagway evidently has turned the ball over 6 times in the first 2 scrimmages to a Defense that had 7 turnovers all year last year. Granted they didn't have The Godfather of Modern Football Defense in Ron Roberts, but nevertheless it seems that the mentoring program is going swimmingly. The best part? I feel like there is still work to do. Or business left to finish as the case may be. As such, I believe for the good of the game of modern football Graham Mertz shall be granted an additional year of eligibility (year 7) in order to continue to aid young DJ in his development. He will also be given a coaching title like co-coordinator of the head coaching coordination of projects involving quarterbacks. He'll be doing a deal where he is like a coach playing while coaching the players that play and get coached. Right? Gutsy Graham the check down man is in business not only to do business but also to finish business. And business, my friends, is good.

God, that would be amazing. “Unfinished Business 2: The Quest for 7 Wins” Graham Mertz delays his NFL career once again as he leads an all star cast. Not only is Gator football back, but this time he knows how to use the helmet comms. The system is more in place. The defense is poised to crack the top 50. We’re ready to take back the Kentucky rivalry. Lagway learns the most valuable lesson of all - how to be a better human being.
