Ok, in order to get ourselves into the proper perspective when looking at Gator sport in 2023, lets collectively make the decision on UF Sports highlight of the year.....
Was it :
(1) The NCAA Men's Golf Team Championship (2) Woman's Distance Running Champion and Record Setter Parker Valby (3) The NCAA Men's Swimming Championship
Remember you only get one vote so make it count!
I am going with #2 Parker Valby. Anthony Richardson has nothing on Parker Valby when it comes to being a generational athlete. Total domination! Bringing glory to UF Athletics 45 fans at a time. Go Gators!
2023, what a year!

Do we have a quidditch team? If so, how did they do?

I started this thread in jest and had to dig a little to find the 3 choices, but damn Parker Valby is the real deal. Indoor track started last week in Boston and the girl smashed it again.
"A sub 15-minute 5000m race was a mark no woman had ever accomplished during collegiate competition, until Parker Valby stepped foot on the track at Boston University for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Valby's NCAA record run of 14:56.11 at Boston University has earned her USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Women's Athlete of the Week honors. The 2023 NCAA Outdoor Champion in the 5000m shaved 24 seconds off her personal best time while also topping the previous NCAA indoor record (held by Emily Sisson since 2015) by 16 seconds. Her time also edged out the outdoor record (15:03.12) by seven seconds which was set by Katelyn Tuohy in 2023. As she showed during the Cross Country season, Valby has a extra gear that is unmatched. After running the first four 1000m in approximately three minutes each, in the final 1000m Valby clocked a 2:52.83, her fastest split of the race."

Nothing but respect for Parker in what I can only assume was a cosmic connection I named my son after her 14 years ago, but Trinity Thomas is the Gators shining star: floridagators.com/news/2023/7/6/gymnastics-trinity-thomas-is-2023-southeastern-conference-female-athlete-of-the-year.aspx#:~:text=Honda%20Award%20winner%20and%20SEC,Female%20Athlete%20of%20the%20Year. Fortunately Stricklin has not had to hire coaches for female gymnastics or track and field because not only would these accomplishment not have happened he probably would have found some gem of a guy who he'd have to fire amidst an abuse scandal. I hate that fucking Mississippi redneck almost as much as he hates the idea of minority head coaches. Don't think he's ever hired one in any of the big time sports. He should really go back to Starkville where that would be celebrated instead of questioned.

I get the Trinity Thomas thing, she is a phenom for sure, but I have a hard time getting past this sentence,

No woman.....ever.
OK, enough already, back to my sarcastic point of this thread, here we are on a Gator Football page debating Trinity Thomas vs Parker Valby. What a year for Gator sports!!!! On the bright side track and field and gymnastic tickets are a lot cheaper than football and basketball tickets. Go Gators!

Parker or talk about that our one good defensive player isn't going to the NFL but actually coming back to play for another school (read: better staff), that our best player has said he wants to win in what will likely be his last year of college football (the whole best Defender leaving doesn't help in that regard), one of our 2 five-stars from Texas is saying the right things but also taking an official visit to Texas as they prepare for the play-offs (but we've got this super sweet thing called an indoor practice facility, it's got AC, let's just hang out in there all weekend), and our other 5 star from Texas is watching all of this and hearing how he'll get the opportunity to learn from a 6th year senior that plays nothing like him who the fanbase just fucking adores, and it's shaping up to be a wonderful 2024. The move of firing Spencer (Princely) and Raymond (Filiasame) has already reaped Napier-like benefits. Whereas you look onward as the future goes to last year in the process that's a deal. Right?

That’s a good point. Everyone knows the reason recruiting has been so bad in recent years has been due to how far behind we have fallen in our facilities compared to other schools. I think the solution is to get out ahead of that now by building even newer and more air-conditioned facilities. And more jump man logos. And scooters.
