Don't be surprised to see a Gator top this list: n.rivals.com/transfer_tracker/football/2024If Wilson who didn't play and was taken off the depth chart for reasons still unknown can check in at 12, where does a 2nd team All-SEC pass rusher slot in? Gotta think above Nolan whose play has not matched his high school recruiting profile which would make him number 1 with a bullet. It's early and we don't know what's going on at other schools, you may see an Arch Manning type jump, but the only guy I could see surpassing him based on on-field results is Etienne.

Also as one 2nd team All-SEC performer leaves let's jump in the way back machine and go all the way back to the transfer class of 2023 (where we finished a cool 31st) and give a shout out to the top rated player who came or went Josh Braun at 37 overall/5th ranked OL who after starting 7 games in 21 but only 2 games after Napier came in, also made 2nd team All-SEC while our offensive line, including multiple transfers, was complete garbage. Braun was the rare recruiting win against UGA on the offensive line (the flip was probably aided by the logjam due to the embarrassment of riches), so at one point in time he chose to be a Gator. Happy for him.

I noticed several in the tranfer portal from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Penn, Stanford (I assume they are on football scholaships). Unless these guys think they are going to be drafted in the NFL why would you forego an Ivy League type of education? Maybe the curriculum is too difficult? I guess I am living in another universe where education is just an afterthought.

It used to be a pipe dream for these types of athletes transfer into a Power 5 conference, but now they see just about anyone can transfer into the University of Florida and get a scholarship. Plus, they get to eat as much as they want. You can always go back to school, but the Texas State University Fightin’ Armadillo-esque experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

24/7 has them ranked and I’m surprised by this but I guess I’ve just seen more of them than some of the other guys and QBs are most valuable anywhoot Princely is #6 overall and #1 Edge and Etienne is 13 overall and 1 RB

There are people on another board saying things like “Etienne isn’t that big of a loss” and “we have a pretty good RB room” and I think they actually believe that. Etienne was the biggest L this roster could take in the portal full stop. You can’t watch tape of him and Johnson side by side and not see that one is clearly better. I feel like I’m living on Crazy Island.

As I think about this, it seems likely that these two guys were giving him hell over what he's doing wrong and/or not doing. So he dumped them in favor of a bunch of yes-men. Because he knows he's right, you know? If that makes sense.

Unless these guys think they are going to be drafted in the NFL why would you forego an Ivy League type of education? Maybe the curriculum is too difficult? I guess I am living in another universe where education is just an afterthought. It has gotten more common in recent years. Almost always guys on the line of scrimmage who hit a late growth spurt or a body transformation leads to speed/strength changes. Now they can monetize in college even if they're not quite Marcellus Wylie or Ali Marpet. For each one of those guys who made it in the NFL there's a few who washed out because they weren't quite good enough or the competition jump was too drastic. Now you can more freely transfer to see where you stack up against guys who are playing on Sunday and make money at the same time. It's the damn new generation of fans, they're brainlessly following whatever they read from the sunshine pumping media. They're company line zombies. "Pat Dooley said fire Ron Zook was embarrassing, I'm embarrassed because I was told to be," "someone said Princely took plays off, he is lazy, good riddance," and "Billy Napier said that Montrell Johnson is a really good back just like he told us so he should get the majority of the snaps." I swear I saw multiple crowd shots of 20-24 year olds with tears in their eyes with their arms around each other with their heads touching. That happened back in the glory days, but they were female fans. Maybe some male family members but I don't think so. These are guys, sometimes in body paint. That's who I picture being aghast when you say maybe Napier isn't the guy. Get the fuck off my lawn. As I think about this, it seems likely that these two guys were giving him hell over what he's doing wrong and/or not doing. So he dumped them in favor of a bunch of yes-men. Because he knows he's right, you know? If that makes sense. That's it. Maybe not directly but you're exactly right. Not exactly good for staff morale putting your 29 year old former grad assistant who after an illustrious career at Huntington College had 1 year of coffee making quality control at UGA, 1 year LBer coaching experience at Louisiana, 2 years DC at Southern Miss, who had left a DC position for a LBer coach job paying 550k at Alabama before you swooped in and put him in charge of the Florida Defense and paid him 1.1 million. That guy was in charge of: Raymond- 4 years at LSU and 7 years in the NFL, spent 10 years turning LSU into DBU, coaching 16 NFL players including 4 first round picks along the way. He was in his 2nd year in the NFL when Armstrong was born. Spencer- been coaching since 1995, has coached 16 NFL players, also recruited Saquon Barkley, Micah Parsons, Oweh, and Dotson who were all first round picks. Spencer was hired by Elko in less than a week. Raymond won't sit around for long. Those guys were answering to Austin Armstrong and subsequently blamed for the Defenses failures. It was their fault, I read it on Gator Country.
