Hearing that RDB is struggling to fill his open staff spots because nobody wants to give up the job they have to take one with a HC that may not be employed next year. So sad, sounds like more underqualified coaches on the way.

Hopefully it works out. I'm not a fan of making a big deal about standout players a guy has coached, unless he has a history of consistently developing top NFL talent. One of my high school basketball coaches used to brag about how he coached Allen Iverson. Now, I'm sure this guy was a decent high school basketball coach, but I highly doubt Iverson succeeded solely due to the coaching he received in high school. Oddly enough the coach did not have anything to say about state championships or any team-related accolades. Anyway, a couple of notes from the write-up on this position coach...
The jump Washington made from 56th to 13th in pass defense happened in 2020, the season they played only four games against Utah, Oregon State, Arizona, and Stanford. The following year, they legitimately appeared to have a good secondary (better than ours for sure), but they also had a 1st round and 2nd round pick playing corner, which helps. Perhaps Harris is the Real Deal, but he also knows he is out of a job soon so this could be another situation where he is jumping at the opportunity with nowhere else better to go.

This is a thing that happened. It seems like he can coach a little bit and he's absolutely no threat to rock the boat. Pretty much RDB's modus operandi when it comes to hiring. The added bonus is that clearly he's not afraid to go to a bad situation working for a coach on the hot seat given that he went to the Chargers. His resume is short for the position at UF, he has no local recruiting ties whatsoever because aside from one year as DC at Georgia Southern. The sunshine pumpers are misquoting his resume for what it's worth, he was an assistant DB coach at Washington his first 2 years, moved up to DB coach for 2 years with some good results which he parlayed into the DC position at Georgia Southern where his Defense gave up 31.2 points a game in everybody's favorite conference, THE SUNBELT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Chargers are currently 31st in Pass Defense holding a .2 YPG lead in the race to not be last. All that said, his resume reads like he can coach technique and defense assignment football reasonably well. Aside from the geography making no sense whatsoever, here's the main issue: 247sports.com/Coach/Will-Harris-4090/AllTimeRecruits/HIs best recruit was a low 4 star (his only recruit over 3 stars) who was the #33 safety in the country and 48th best kid in Cali. All his recruits are from Cali save the 1 kid from Washington state. I'm not going to look up Raymond's historical recruits because it'll make me cry. I'm not slamming Harris, for all I know he's a great coach, but the hire is on brand for Napier, but at least nobody will questions his authority. Hearing that RDB is struggling to fill his open staff spots because nobody wants to give up the job they have to take one with a HC that may not be employed next year. So sad, sounds like more underqualified coaches on the way. Yeah, that follows, it's kind of the chicken or the egg, but what Defensive coach with any kind of resume wants to come work for Austin Armstrong? If someone wants the job would Napier hire them? I heard chatter about Ed O taking over as D-line coach. That would be a good hire, but would Napier make it? Would he put a guy with Head Coaching experience and who has shown the capacity to do a decent job as an interim coach on staff? Or a strong personality who has had success recruiting under Boy Wonder? I don't think so. The simple fact is that when a staff overhaul is in order you start with the two most respected guys on staff who also happen to have the least ties to your beloved Sunbelt conference speaks volumes. Not having their replacements in place and on the recruiting trail 10 days out from early NSD is nonsensical, but again on brand. The fact that we haven't made any changes on offense makes me think that any change would be nominal at best. As hard as it's been to fill these 2 positions with anybody qualified, imagine being an Offensive Coordinator in any kind of demand and coming to a place where the Head Coach clearly doesn't want to give up play calling and is a dead man walking. I would say you could get a Bobby Petrino type with his eyes on the head job, but the next guy Napier hires with head coaching experience will be the first. Napier has shown us over and over again who he is. I for one believe him.

Awesome. I wonder if Kevin O'Connell used Snoop Dogg as a reference for getting his coaching gigs.

Awesome. Just awesome. A couple of the coaches from Friday Night Tykes showed some real promise. I think they would fall in line with General Steady hair and Lieutenant General McJiggles.
