2025 five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson was scheduled to take an official visit to Florida on June 14.

According to On3's Chad Simmons, that visit is no longer happening.

Instead, Gibson will take an official visit to Tennessee on June 14.

This is what is referred to in high octane recruiting systems as a "sabotage drop". It is a very difficult maneuver to execute and requires the most sophisticated and forward-thinking group of recruiters and analysts to pull off. The trick is realizing - very early and ahead of everyone else - a player is not going to perform up to standards/expectations, and that he/she will ultimately end up hurting the team more than helping. THEN, we cut bait entirely leaving the door open for other unsuspecting teams to spend valuable capital, time, and additional resources to acquire that player. Inevitably the player underperforms and provides us with a strategic advantage when going head-to-head. Thus, the "sabotage" is completed. We have been doing this for three years now, so I expect we will begin to see these moves pay off as early as 2024 and even more in 2025 as we fall further outside of the top 25 in recruiting.

If you lower your recruiting target levels to a point no one else is competing with you for your choices, you will in turn reduce your number of recruits lost to late flips right at signing time. Recruit right in the first place and all the surprises go away. That's some next level strategic thinking right there I tell you. Got to love it when a plan comes together!
