What a joke. I have bad news for everyone that’s still crying about the schedule. The SEC isn’t getting any easier. Tired of these people. They have a scripted excuse for any and all of Napiers shortcomings.

What fruits are we reaping exactly? Am I missing something? I wouldn’t call back to back losing seasons a bumper crop.

This, while frustrating and somewhat infuriating, is not at all surprising.

I went down a rabbit hole on MG's Desmond Watson health thread and started thinking about and looking at this strictly in the Strength and Conditioning context, but it's pretty consistent across the board. We all know the company line is that we overhauled the Strength and Conditioning department because the old approach didn't work because other teams were "bigger and stronger" than us. For right now I'm going to leave alone the fact that we have a guy who has never led a S&C department at any level (near as I can tell maybe they omitted when he was the head of JV football S&C during college from his bio) for any sport running the S&C department for the University of Florida. We'll also leave out that we lost a real S&C coach to Boston College. Hard to do, but let's call that "okay," and look at the company line. Granted this is from the glorious 40 days of Fitz: gatorsbreakdown.com/home-page-news/florida-gators-treyaun-webb-praises-new-strength-and-conditioning-program-highlights-shift-from-last-year/For Florida Gators running back Treyaun Webb, this change was a much-needed one. On a recent episode of Gators Breakdown, Webb reflected on the past training regimen, saying, “Last year around this time we had people pulling hamstrings, getting hurt because we ran a lot. We didn’t really focus on getting bigger. We were just running like we were a track team. We would do Olympic lifts, stuff like that.” Despite their efforts, Florida ended Napier’s second season with a disappointing 5-7 record, closing with a five-game losing streak. Webb attributed this to a lack of physical strength compared to other teams, stating, “I felt like in my opinion, we weren’t as big as other teams last year. That kind of hurt us.”Okay, so who was this guy who had us so small and fragile you might ask, well it was Mark Hocke: www.gatorcountry.com/feature/hocke-using-specialized-approach-in-weight-room/To do that, Napier and associate head coach/director of strength and conditioning Mark Hocke have assembled a strength staff that is filled with coaches that played different positions. Tiger Jones played receiver at Louisville and is working with the Gators’ offensive skill players. Alex Watkins is working with the linebackers. Edward Thompson, a former cornerback at Louisiana, is working with the defensive backs, while Karmichael Dunbar, a former Ragin’ Cajun defensive lineman, is working with both lines of scrimmage. So, it would be kind of frustrating that it took 2 years for Napier to acknowledge that the S&C approach he came in with wasn't working and once he realized it he made sweeping changes, but the crazy part is this: A) Hocke didn't work for CWT for 2 years. He was the head of his S&C department for 6 years starting at Louisiana. Before that he worked with CWT at Bama. It shouldn't take 2 years to realize your opponents are bigger and stronger than you. It damn sure shouldn't take 6. B) CWT left Hocke in the building (his contract was guaranteed) so now he's the Director of Player Relations and Assistant Head Coach because why the Hell not? CWT is also helping him to develop into more of an on-field role because "he's always been interested in that sort of stuff." Did I miss something? When exactly did the UF job become a place where the head coach could have losing seasons and still do his buddies a solid by getting them some on the job training? This shit is unbelievable. I have so many problems with the way this staff is set up. Just watch what an absolute cluster F it is when we get in tight in-game situations where seconds matter and no one knows who’s doing what. That alone will lose one or two games for us this season. I’d be willing to bet the farm on it. Not getting the play in or the right personnel (preferably not wearing the same number) will absolutely happen this season and probably more than once. If UF isn’t in the talk about a 12 TEAM PLAYOFF there is a major breakdown somewhere…

I want Kiffin but I didn't realize this about Fisch www.on3.com/news/jedd-fisch-reflects-on-post-it-notes-to-steve-spurrier-entry-into-coaching/That's a guy that wants to be in Gainesville just as much a CWT wanted to be in Clemson and Tuscaloosa. Gotta think that Napier's lack of Florida ties at leasts plays some part in his refusal to adjust in any meaningful (or really even nominal) way as the program sinks to depths never seen before (we've never had 4 straight losing seasons I don't believe). We have had four consecutive losing seasons before, but it was in the 1930s. I researched it for the Napier accomplishments thread in anticipation of what this season will bring. We won’t break .500 this year. We won’t win any games we should lose and will probably lose one or two we should win. Samford will tell the tale. If that game is close it’s going to a very long season.

All the talent on earth doesn’t matter. The guy can’t coach at an SEC level.

I'm almost at the point where I hope we go ahead and give him 5 years. Let's just see how it goes. That allows him, what, 6 full recruiting cycles to get rid of all of the Mullen recruits? And then 4 full seasons plus the lost "really difficult schedule" season of 2024 to get things back on track. Is that enough time? I legitimately want CWT to get a fair shake and have every opportunity to be successful. If on the off chance he still sucks at that point, then we can just chalk up the additional two years as market research and maybe people will start to wake up in the future. I follow your logic - to a point. How far do we allow the program to fall before we cut bait? Normally when a coach is going to be successful, you see tangible signs of progress no later than year two. Year two for Napier was worse than year one. We failed to qualify for a bowl game at a time when more than half of FBS goes to one. The gap between us and even the mediocre teams in the SEC appears to be widening. Both current players and recruits are bailing. Napier seems to have no intention of fixing the obvious deficiencies in his "system" (I hesitate to call it that). I do have to give him one thing: He is doing it his own way, and if he is going down, it isn't going to be while doing what someone else suggested or mandated. Yeah it needs to be fixed asap. Look what happened to Nebraska. Right now we are still in the “F around ‘phase. This needs to be corrected before we enter “find out” territory.

I don't keep up with the "true" fans. I assume they are blaming Mullen for the lack of drafted talent and praising Napier for bringing Pearsall in to save us from having zero draft picks, right? Nailed it.

I saw a graphic during the draft earlier that Mizzou had a player taken in each round. Just in case anyone wanted to benchmark the state of the program.

“Like I mentioned before, I don’t think the place is under construction, I think it’s built, and I think this is going to allow me an opportunity to focus a little bit more on the things that matter, and play-calling’s a part of that.”So it has taken him until his third season to focus on play calling? I mean, play calling is a pretty big deal for the play caller last time I looked into that. My favorite part of the article..

Lagway looks fast as hell on the scramble too. Reminded me a lot of AR the first time I saw him play. Kind of has a slippery glide to him. So yeah, he probably won’t play much.

If anyone is interested it looks like it will be on SEC network at 8pm Eastern tonight. I’m going to watch some of it. Just for shiggles. I know not everything can be as exciting as that play or Desmond Watson being Desmond Watson, but I heard Lagway looked pretty legit. Lagway did look good. So he probably won’t play much.

I am 100% ripping this off from Chris Rock. Losers always want credit for shit they’re just supposed to do. They’re always bragging about shit they’re just supposed to do. For example, they say stuff like “We’re learning how to practice.” What, you want a cookie? You’re supposed to know how to practice you low expectation having mother f-er! That’s a classic bit. I just saw it on YouTube the other day and it still holds up!

Sounds like the same shit he said last year with a year of experience behind it. Win games. Period.
And can we stop with this “looks like an NFL practice” BS?? No it doesn’t. How many NFL practices has Mertz been to? Where is this bullshit coming from?? Win some games. Please and thank you.

x.com/GatorsFB/status/1779207294938747243This is the stuff of nightmares for opposing coordinators. As a DC, how can you hope to stop that level of arm talent and ability to drive the ball into tight windows? Especially since Head Coach of the Coaches of the Defensive Football of which he is the modern day Godfather and inventor of AND his fearless assistant/coachee/Defensive Coordinator in charge of coordinating the defense Titties McJiggles were so helpless to stop it? Likewise as an OC how do you combat that coverage scheme and execution and hope to possibly move the ball in the air if you do not have the competitive advantage of Gutsy Graham Mertz and his laser accurate arm cannon? I don't think there's 5 people on the planet that can make that throw against that kind of pressure, and we have one of them. The bestest one. Yikes.

The best part is that no one really knows what anyone else does. When everyone is in charge no one is in charge. They’re still evaluating and things are going well and that’s just something that will have to be evaluated some more.
