I like 5. The guys that are here want to be here. It doesn’t matter how well they play football or anything. They want to be here. This shit is driving me crazy. Hell, Etienne wanted to be here. With his brother in Jacksonville it was the best fit for his family. He never didn't want to be here, he just realized to better his future he couldn't afford to stay.

I love all the headlines that say "Gators in 5 Stars top 13". Let me translate for you....the kid means "there are 12 other schools I would rather go to than UF". If we were the kid's 4th favorite, the story would say we were in his top 4 not his top 13.

I have to believe Dez's family has already had multiple meetings and strategy sessions with their attorney and keep him on speed dial. If Dez passes a physical and is cleared to play something is seriously wrong. Where are the University attorneys in all this? The liability of letting him play can not be acceptable. There is no way this turns out well, at the press conference after the disaster happens, there is no way the family thanks the University for giving him the chance to go out doing what he loved. For Gods sake by the end of the season last year the man couldn't be subbed in or out of a game without a time out. This is going to turn out bad and I don't want to watch.

Ok, I know am dating myself, and I know this is a really childish look at this, but does anyone else see major similarities between Napier and the Wizard of Oz (yes, I just watched it for the 100th time while visiting nieces and nephews)? Both portray themselves as Emperors of their grand magic kingdoms. Napier is a more congenial version up front, but in the end they both just turn into blithering idiots who's entire worlds were built on smoke and mirrors.
I dub thee, Billy Napier, Wizard of Hogtown.

If nothing else, and I am starting to believe there is nothing else, this guy is persistent in his beliefs. Here comes another under qualified hire for us to develop, but he did play 4 years at.... go on take a guess.... you got it, LOUISIANA. Best quote from the article...... "DeCoster is a familiar face being given his highest-profile coaching position to date as an on-field assistant". link - Jonathan DeCoster

I said in an earlier thread that the one thing that stood out and gave me pause regarding Napier was SOS's silence. Well he is not silent anymore and things didn't seem to fall Real Deal Bill's way.

Yeah but does Texas A&M have the guy who got fired as an OC after scoring 3 points at home against Mississippi State working on "head coaching projects," and/or could their QBs face off in practice with a defense armed with the de facto fired DC of Auburn acting as the head coach of the defense and coaching the coaches on that side of the ball since he's the "Godfather" of the defense that rules the Sunbelt Conference with 28-33 year old portly reddish haired DCs jumping around on the sidelines either with or without a beard? And do they have the former intern of the guy who sent 2 whole people to the NFL combine (the same number as Holy Cross) this year running the S&C department? I think not. The players love that dude. They probably don't even have a sweet GM type guy that does some kind of roster management type deal as part of the process of evaluation and analysis since we stole that idea (and actual person) from their former coach who is getting paid 9 figures not to coach them anymore. They probably have this antiquated idea about having a special teams coach and one Offensive line coach. We have a whole department and are soon to get the tag team reformed. Texas A&M is a dying program. That's why we tricked our most respected coaches and best recruiters into going there. Oh yeah and our best Defensive player. And our leading tackler. Probably some other guys that I can't think of because I'm still playing checkers while the DDD plays chess. Not regular chess Chinese Chess. We wouldn't understand it but it's a thing that brings the things meticulously attending details and whereas the what for process thusly. Game, set, match, General Napier. and don't forget Dez, we got Big Dez!

New Portal window opening on April 15th. Could we really lose 2, 5 star QB's within one year, and with neither of them even suiting up for a game? No one will ever say the RDB era was not record setting!

For what it's worth, looks like Enos is the Hamilton replacement. Still sort of a round peg square hole kind of thing, which if you are so stacked with coaching talent you are now just hording more, is probably not a bad thing, but seems to me we could have easily found a round hole for this round peg.

We finally hire a somewhat reputable SEC coach, and we put him in an off field role to scout talent and do "Head Coach Projects"? We are way, way down the rabbit hole. LINK - Gators add Dan Enos

The deals are by the year. You bolt after year one, you only collect year one. Which is still the perfect scenario for Lagway. He get a years worth of NIL money and a priceless QB education, care of Mertz and Real Deal Bill. That's something right there, I tell you BAMA is going to be so happy with what they get when he hits the portal.

@ 5.5 I want the under
“Big-picture wise, we’re taking the group of people that we have and we’re trying to develop some people, groom some people. We’ve done a ton of work in the offseason to kind of evaluate that in terms of what that looks like,”
I am sorry, but THE University of Florida should not have a football staff with members that are being developed or groomed. Shouldn't happen.
"Yeah, I mean the head coach for the defense, basically a guy who oversees that side of the ball to some degree. Austin’s obviously the coordinator, he calls the plays and runs the unit meetings, but we’re getting a guy who can coach the coaches and improve the installation and game plan, he’s the head coach of the defense to some degree."
So basically our DC now has a high priced baby sitter.

ESPN put out a pre-season 2024, Top 25. After not finding the Gators on the list I went to the notes at the bottom of the list....
Dropped out: Washington (No. 11), SMU (No. 24), Iowa (No. 25)
Just missed: USC, Washington, SMU, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Boise State, Air Force, Liberty
Nope, not there either.

why the f did this guy bolt so soon?? Pretty simple really... Bill O'Brien just got the HC job at BC and Fitzgerald had previously worked for O'Brien in the same roll when O'Brien was HC at Penn State and went with him to the NFL when O'Brien got the Houston Texans job. BC - Director of Strength and Conditioning, full authority. UF - Coordinator of Repetitive Motions while holding Heavy Things and Jogging Analyst, Predecessor still on Staff.

"We’re fortunate to be at the University of Florida and are able to attract the very best in the country."
But unfortunately, just like HS recruits, we attract them but then can't keep them.

I think the things that screams the loudest to me, shouting RDB is not the guy, is the silence coming from SOS. No defense of the plan, no defense of the process, no praise of the analytics, no defense of the man himself, just silence.

Are you asking where is the bar if I get to set it, or where do I think the bar is that SS cowbell has set?
For me, year 3 after Mulllen ..... 8-4, maybe 7-5 if you were really, really competitive in a few loses, but none of the loses can be to teams we are better than.
For SS cowbell ..... 6-6, just make a bowl game, any bowl game.

Don't forget that in a pinch RDB has Montrell Johnson in the wildcat ready and waiting to go. Yes, finally a complete back who can run, block, pass, and catch snaps through the legs of a QB. The defense won't know what we're going to do. and don't forget, he has SunBelt experience!
